Heron Pond Montessori School has been serving the Outer Banks families since September 1995. We chose the Montessori method of education for our schools because we believe in the “whole child” approach. What began as a program with 18 enrolled children now spans four thriving campuses across the Outer Banks.

 

The primary goal of a Montessori program is to help each child reach full potential in all areas of life. Activities promote the development of social skills, emotional growth and physical coordination as well as cognitive preparation. The holistic curriculum, under the direction of a specially prepared teacher, allows the child to experience the joy of learning, time to enjoy the process and insure the development of self-esteem, and provides the experiences from which children create their knowledge.

Our wonderful teachers are dedicated to the Montessori method of education. Our lead teachers are Montessori certified and experienced in early childhood education. Our teacher student ratio is very low and allows for a lot of individualized curriculum.
